Most men’s fashion and accessories are designed around versatility and function. Generally speaking, appearance is secondary, if a consideration at all. When I do my own shopping I want to know if it fits and how long it will last under the conditions I will wear whatever it is. How many of you own clothing items that are 10, 20, or 30 years old?
If it fits and functions I see no need for replacement. My wife on the other hand buys me nice things. I am not allowed to wear those when I fix my ute or go to a backcountry fishing hole. Right now, the braided belt style is back in fashion, so hanging on to those beauties from the 90s was a good call.

My weight fluctuates between seasons, as I pack it on over holidays and burn it off working. I don’t have the need to buy new denim each year and I don’t wear those skinny jeans as they tend to hurt things. So, a solid belt is necessary. I bought several of the styles I just described.
When it comes to completing a fit with a presentable look, that’s back in my wife’s business. She does a great job and enjoys it when I clean up and make myself presentable to the public for a nice meal together or with friends. However, we can avoid the belt expense altogether if I wear no pants.
Follow me for more financial advice. While enlisted and deployed in the desert, I used my issue belt to replace a power steering belt that had broken. There really is no substitute for a strong men’s belt, that thing lasted until we reached the motor pool for repairs. Keep your pants up
